Yesterday afternoon, my laptop started seeming a bit flaky, so I shut everything down to reboot and then install updates. I thought it would be a good idea to backup first, so I connected my backup drive and waited for time-machine to finish up before rebooting. Unfortunately, when I rebooted, the machine had a kernel panic almost immediately. I booted off from external media and tried repairing the disk and then restoring from backups, but to no avail -- it looks like corruption on the disk. Time to buy a new drive, I guess. Sigh... At least I've got a good backup.
