#WordWeavers How is your current WIP going? Anything you'd like to share about it?

I'm working on a novel that I've been writing off-and-on for a couple of years, *The Ground Never Lies*, about a geomancer with an anger problem. It has two timelines that I've finally finished and just married together. I'm currently working on my first full revising pass, looking at the two together and managing the transitions between them. I'm about half done and it's going pretty well.

The #UMassAmherst Associate Provost for Faculty Development came to my house to bring me lunch and deliver a plaque for my Delphi Leadership Award. We had a nice chat in my tent over Indian food. I was very gratified to receive this award in recognition of my service to non-tenure-track faculty.

The duck took to its wings, leaving Stinky wallowing in the muck. He dragged himself out of the mire and then shook off, spraying mud everywhere. Tongue lolling, he looked very pleased with himself to have chased off the dangerous interloper.

Lord and Lady Relsing went for an early-morning horseback ride. Revin was trying to improve his horsemanship and Lidja, who was an expert equestrian, gave him tips.

#ScribesAndMakers If you have had to give up your creative activities for a while, how do you motivate yourself to get back in?

I learned a long time ago that my creative output is extremely uneven. Sometimes I'm very productive and sometimes I have dry spells that last for weeks or months. So I don't try to "motivate" myself or even worry about it. It just happens. Or it doesn't. It's certainly nothing I worry about.

"Ooh! I can see the eggs!" Brunhilde said.
"What are you doing?" Forrest screeched. "That's not safe! Where is your mother?"
"She didn't come. I'm just here with my dad today."
The bear gently helped her down then brandished pink claws.

Forrest looked, and sure enough, someone had applied pink nail #polish to his talons.
Furious, he flew back and found the girl standing on the bear's head four meters off the ground looking in the hole of a tree. (3/4) #wss366

Forrest took to his wings to find someone to threaten, which always made him feel better.
He flew to a picnic table where several napkins had blown off onto the ground. He landed on the table and strutted up to a young man to menace him when the guy started laughing. Laughing! (2/4) #wss366

Forrest always took a nap during the hottest part of the day. He would perch on a shady branch to get a little sleep.
He awoke to the inane chattering of the bear and that annoying little girl. They were laughing about something. Forrest became convinced they were laughing about him. (1/4) #wss366

A european chafer stopped by to visit this afternoon.

Checking things off my to-do list:

✅ Make coffee.
✅ Do the jumble.
✅ Eat breakfast.
✅ Visit boxer dog.
✅ Take nap.

Miss Dairy teared up. "It's not fair!" she said. "I was so looking forward to our date."
