The Rainbow Bridge

Yesterday, I got home and found a small package from my father. He's been going through old stuff as part of decommissioning the family home from when I grew up and periodically has been sending things to Lucy, me, Phil, the boys, and I assume others as well. Here's the reply I sent after opening this most recent package:
I received the small package you sent today with Sunny's AKC surferticket and Miss Boxer's collar. Thank you for sharing them, I guess. Lucy and I looked at them and reminisced a little. Miss Boxer seemingly had a smaller neck than I remember.
I'm never quite sure what to do with these things, but I'll probably take the collar in and keep it with Plato's collar that I have in my office. We miss our boxer dogs that have "crossed over the rainbow bridge" as they say. I always tell Penny that she's the "best boxer dog alive today". If she feels damned by the faint praise, she doesn't let it show.
Phil sent me a great picture of a boxer dog this morning, which prompted me to observe "If it ain't a boxer, it's just a dog."
For background, Miss Boxer was the first dog we had, when I was a small child, and Sunny was the boxer we had when I was in high school. Plato was the first boxer I got after I started a family and Penny is the boxer we have now. Not mentioned is Beauzeau, the odd brindle boxer my dad got after I left home.
